A Case of Allopurinol-induced Eosinophilia

Abstract
|

|
There are many conditions which are associated with eosinophilia, such as infection of
metazoic parasites, allergic conditions, idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome,
malignancies, collagen disease and drugs. Alloprinol-induced eosinophilia is rarely
reported. Allopurinol is generally well-tolerated with a few significant adverse effects.
We experienced a case of eosinophilia which developed during allopurinol
administration for about 2 months ins gouty arthritis patient. The clinical and laboratory
findings were compatible with the hypersensitivity reaction to allopurinol.
